Current club events are listed each month on p. 2, 3, & 8 of the newsletter calendar. See pages 4-5 of the February newsletter for a master-schedule of events coming up each year.
The Chuckanut Classic is in August in 2016
The Chuckanut Classic Bicycle Ride (formerly the Chuckanut Century) is presented by the Mount Baker Bicycle Club as our signature ride. For more information, including directions, maps, and entry form, please visit our Chuckanut Classic Website. The 2016 Chuckanut Classic will be Sunday, August 28, 2016.
MBBC Booth at Seattle Bike Show, March 5 and 6, 2016
The MBBC has a booth every year at the Seattle Bike Show, and volunteers from the club staff the booth over the 2-day event. We use this booth to promote bicycling in Bellingham through the Chuckanut Classic, Summer Rides Series, and other Bellingham Tourism events. We partner with the Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism department who sponsors our booth.
Volunteering to staff the MBBC booth is a great way to meet other Washington cyclists and talk about our great Bellingham/Whatcom cycling community. It's also a lot of fun to check out the other exhibits at the bike show.
Yearly & Quarterly Meetings
There were some great meet-ups and events in 2015 and more as we move into 2016. The club puts on several get-togethers per year in addition to our many club bike rides.
- Our Yearly kick-off member's reception and membership-renewal party is in January 2016 and includes a good overview of the year to come, as well as a gear swap and new memberships sign-up for the year.
- The MBBC has a booth every year at the Seattle Bike Show, and volunteers from the club staff the booth over the 2-day event. We used this booth to promote bicycling in Bellingham..
- The MBBC was a sponsor of the Pickford Cinema's annual Bike In event on August 15, 2014. In collaboration with Cycle Moles, the MBBC booth offered information about the Chuckanut Century and 2015 Tandem Rally, raffles of cycling jerseys, and spin bike fitness demonstrations and contests. Our plans to staff a booth at the Bike-In in 2015 were thwarted, as weather caused the rooftop event to be cancelled. We're looking forward to better weather in 2016!
